From mako at debian.org Thu Feb 1 16:47:04 2007 From: mako at debian.org (Benj. Mako Hill) Date: Thu, 1 Feb 2007 16:47:04 -0500 Subject: Jobs Message-ID: <20070201214704.GS5992@yukidoke.org> I've been bombarded recently with people looking for good candidates for job they ahve on offer. Two of them are offers to work at the Media Lab. The lab is really great and the tech team there are excellent and very competant. Both offers are attached and are for developers (web and non-web). They are probably very good gigs. Apparently, they haven't had a lot of qualified people applying so far. I've also been asked to suggest people for part time system administration work (both gigs would be remote and largely irregular -- but as AFAIK, would pay decently). Those would be for Debian work and possibly also some Ubuntu systems. If you're interested in either, please mail me off list. We are looking for a person to manage our datacenter operations and continue our migration to x86_64 throughout our datacenter. Although some networking background would be needed, the strongest skills are required for system administration and development of Debian and Ubuntu systems. Our datacenter operations are entirely run on linux using either the Ubuntu or Debian distros, with the last of our redhat servers being phased out shortly. We are a strong supporter (as a company) of open source, and routinely return patches for improvements/fixes back to the community. If anybody knows of (or anybody on this list is) somebody who would be interested, please don't hesitate to contact me. The person does need to be located in the Boston area, or be willing to relocate after a trail employment period. Here are the details of the position: http://www.athenium.com/systemsmanager07 Although we don't have any recruiting bonuses or rewards here, I am willing to put up $500 from my budget to donate to an open source project (assuming it's legit) if we ultimately hire a fulltime person either directly from, or are referred to somebody from the posting on this list. I'll let the person who refers me make the decision as to what open source project we will donate to. If there's any question about if the requested project is "legit", or any confusion about who should be choosing which opensource project, we'll make the donation to the FSF. Thanks, -Joe
